The English Whisky Co. Announces Triple-Distilled Single Malt

The English Whisky Company, an early entry in the recent resurgence in English whisky-making, has unveiled a new triple-distilled single malt, currently available for purchase in a limited run of 1462 bottles.

We typically associate triple distillation, which gives the resulting distillate a smoother quality, with Irish whiskey, although there are distilleries around the world, including in Scotland and the US, that distill three runs in their pot stills.

“We are proud of this beautiful new whisky and we know that it will be snapped up by those who appreciate a truly special and limited edition single malt,” said The English Whisky Co.’s Andrew Nelstrop in a prepared statement.

There’s not a huge amount of information available on this new expression, but it appears to be an eight-year-old single malt, and it’s bottled at 46% ABV. It joins the distillery’s Original and Smokey single malts; the company’s tasting notes for the triple-distilled whisky are as follows:

“The new small batch launch promises aromas of vanilla custard, with a slightly citrus hit of orange. Hints of spotted dick, rich dark chocolate, creamy toffee and butterscotch blend with the subtle notes of liquorice, whilst the taste profile brings together vanilla and light citrus fruits. There’s also a slightly dry, dark chocolate and light honey taste, alongside subtle liquorice flavour.”

It is available from British retailers and at the distillery’s website at a suggested retail price of around £52 (around $65 USD).
