Join The Whiskey Wash On A Whisky And Cultural Trip To Scotland!

In our book, a good vacation is one that balances relaxation with learning something – and plenty of whisky. That’s why we’re so excited to co-sponsor an eight-day whiskey-themed journey to beautiful Scotland and the magical island of Islay later this year. We’ve partnered with Customized Journeys, a boutique firm specializing in tailor-made excursions, to handle the logistics (hey, we’re whisky people, not travel agents). But we’re going along too, and we really hope you’re able to join us.

We’ve helped Customized Journeys design a whisky-focused itinerary that takes us to some of Scotland’s most iconic distilleries, as well as some lesser-known gems. On Islay, we’re dropping in at Bowmore, Kilchoman, and Laphroaig for a behind-the-scenes look at the action, including exclusive cask tastings and distillery tours. Expect to fall asleep with a happy heart and a smile on your face, gently reeking of peat.

Off Islay, we’re also planning a trip to Oban, one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, as well as a visit to Glenkinchie Distillery, one of just a handful of remaining lowland distilleries. The Lowlands might not have the star power of Islay, but we’re really excited to get to know the region firsthand.

We’ll also spend a bit of time in vibrant Edinburg, one of Scotland’s cultural capitals, including a morning at the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre. And, of course, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to soak up Scotland’s remarkable history, enjoy the gorgeous Hebridean landscape, and just generally kick back and relax. All the way, we’ll benefit from local guides and experts, ready to answer those pesky questions like “how do you really pronounce Bunnahabhain?” and “Why are highland cattle so shaggy?”
