Heaven Hill’s Elijah Craig brand has released its new, limited Toasted Barrel finished in European Toasted Oak Barrels, as the brand commemorates golf’s 2023 Ryder Cup.
Elijah Craig is in a multi-year partnership where the brand is named the “Official Bourbon” and a worldwide supplier of the golf world’s biennial competition.
A statement from the whiskey maker notes that for this limited-edition bourbon, Elijah Craig starts with their matured small batch bourbon, and finishes it in new European oak barrels that have been toasted with a profile inspired by the barrels used in the Lazio wine growing region.
Lazio wines are grown in and around Rome, Italy, and that’s where the 2023 Ryder Cup is being held next month at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club (Sept. 29-Oct. 1).
The distiller’s notes for this expression show that on the nose, there are aromas of caramel and crème brûlée, along with fruit notes and baking spices that carry into the palate. It finishes moderately long and is dominated by spice.
Unique to this edition, the release represents a blend of the U.S. Team’s Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey, an American original, with the wine growing region and host city of the European Team.

Guy Kinnings, Ryder Cup director, said that Elijah Craig’s award-winning bourbon will further elevate the spectator experience in Rome, “and their new limited-edition bottle will both taste incredible and become a sought-after souvenir commemorating the greatest team contest in golf.”

Each bottle of the new expression will feature a neck label with the Ryder Cup trophy on it, a gold coin on the cork featuring the Ryder Cup logo, and a face label that states the “Official Bourbon” designation and Ryder Cup logo.
The Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Ryder Cup Limited Edition release will be available across the U.S. in August on an allocated basis, and will have a suggested price of $99.99.
