Baker’s Bourbon Brings Back Its 13 Year Single Barrel Expression

Baker’s Bourbon from Jim Beam recently announced the return of the brand’s 13 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon, an expression that highlights the influence of warehouse and barrel storage location, and extra time in the environment has on each unique bourbon barrel.

Baker’s originally released this bourbon back in 2019, that was when the brand returned as a single barrel product.

A statement from the makers of Baker’s noted that the 13 Year Old is aged at least six more years than their usual bourbon.

The distiller’s notes show the single barrel bourbon has more robust vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak flavors in the extra-aged expression.

“Baker’s Bourbon celebrates the individual characteristics in each and every barrel, and this 13 Year Old expression takes that experience even further as the distinct flavors from the barrel develop over time,” said Fred Noe, seventh generation master distiller. “We received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback the first time we released this 13-year-old edition, and I’m proud to bring it back for whiskey fans who appreciate something special from Baker’s as a true gem within our small batch portfolio.”

Noe said that while every barrel of Baker’s 13 Year Old offers a unique tasting journey, there are defining characteristics for each bottle. The bourbon will be at least 13 years old, clock in at 107 proof, and on the nose, features fruit, vanilla and caramel. The palate has flavors of oak and toasted nuts, with vanilla and fruity notes. And it finishes medium long and warmly rounded.

The interactive label will allow whiskey enthusiasts to learn more about what shapes the distinct tasting notes of their bottle by sending them to the Single Barrel Journey page on Baker’s website.

After entering the serial number found on the bottle’s neck tag, you can see how weather, length of aging and warehouse location affected the barrel and liquid of each bottle.

Baker’s 13 Year Old is now available in limited quantities in select U.S. states for a suggested retail price of $129.99 for a 750mL bottle.
