Ironton Distillery recently released its second in a trio of straight whiskeys, Colorado Straight Rye Whiskey, which came out at the beginning of this month.
A statement from the distiller describes this whiskey as a marriage of four barrels that have aged up to three years. The distiller’s notes show that the addition of barley brings a slight fruitiness to balance the whiskey’s traditional rye spice.
The straight rye grain whiskey features a blend of Colorado-grown pale and chocolate rye malts roasted to exact specifications.
Bottles of Batch #1’s limited release of Colorado Straight Rye Whiskey are available at Ironton’s tasting room or in select retail locations around the state of Colorado.
Ironton will next release their Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey in September. Their American Straight Malt Whiskey released this past April.
Ironton Distillery & Crafthouse is named after a lost, but not forgotten, mining town in Southern Colorado and the 19th-century Ironton Addition of Denver that would eventually become known as RiNo.
More information from the distillery indicates the following about this new expression:
