Beam’s Little Book American whiskey series, over the years, has become a reflection of the whiskey interests of Freddie Noe, Eighth Generation Master Distiller of all things Jim Beam. For his latest offering, Little Book Chapter 7: In Retrospect, he takes a step back to revisit elements of each of the previous releases under this moniker.
Little Book Chapter 7: In Retrospect, according to those behind it, is a “blend of seven cask strength American whiskies – one curated from each of the brand’s previous six chapters and a seventh new addition.” It is thus not only a look back at what he’s created previously in this blended whiskey series, but also a “nod towards what’s ahead as he continues to explore new horizons of American Whiskey in his newly minted role of Master Distiller.”
“Being named Master Distiller was a humbling moment for me, and it inspired me to reflect on the whiskey journey I’ve been on so far,” Noe said in a prepared statement. “Little Book is a big part of that journey. Looking back on previous chapters’ liquid streams with fresh eyes to create something entirely new was an incredibly rewarding challenge – and a testament to the fact that there are so many possibilities yet to be uncovered in American Whiskey.”

Little Book Chapter 7: In Retrospect, bottled at 118.1 proof, has limited official tasting notes which make mention of being “slightly floral with light smoke and sweet vanilla, followed by caramel.” It is said to be best enjoyed either neat or on the rocks.
