Tasting Notes

About:

A maturation of a minimum of six years in a variety of different first-fill STR casks, mostly made up of ex-European red wine casks.
Appearance:
Orange
Nose:
Orange, red grapes, red apples, red currants and raspberries. All of the red things, plus some zesty, juicy orange notes. Honey, cherry, plums and red wine.
Palate:
An initial herbal note but contrasted by a lot of fruitiness. Welcoming dry spices, almonds, toasted peppercorns, lemon, raspberry, red currants, more honey, citrus peels, cigar tobacco, Seville orange and rosemary.
Finish:
A more youthful finish with new make spirit spiciness and some more toasted peppercorn and rosemary notes. It is a long finish, that pulls through with more savoury notes that remind me of the Signature release.
Comments:
A lovely nose and palate, the finish takes an unexpected turn, especially with the use of STR casks.
