Tasting Notes

About:

Tormore Timeless is the entry-level single malt bottling from Speyside’s Tormore distillery, and part of Elixir Distillers newly launched Tormore core range of whiskies for 2026. Matured predominantly in first and refill ex-bourbon casks, combined with a touch of ex-sherry cask matured malt. Bottled at 43% ABV.
Appearance:
Pale Gold
Nose:
Light aromas, opening with floral vanilla, carnations, and honeysuckle, leading into lemon zest icing, reminiscent of lemon sponge cake. There are also notes of soft apricot and peach fruits.
Palate:
Light and smooth on the palate, but a thin mouthfeel. Notes of lemon and orange citrus, accompanied by soft peach and apricot stone fruits. There’s also a touch of oak spice.
Finish:
A very short finish, focused on soft peppery oak spice which is slightly drying.
Comments:
Situated at the lighter and smooth end of Speyside’s whisky spectrum, this Tormore Timeless presents as an easy drinking and accessible entry level whisky. Tormore’s Timeless expression feels quite young, although there are some clear fruit notes these are slightly overwhelmed by active oak spice, particularly on the finish. Overall, I’m probably closer to a score of 5.5, but will award 6 out of 10. Tormore’s Timeless expression isn’t the most complex, and may work better as a higher quality mixer. For the price difference, I feel the Tormore 12-Year-Old is the better introduction to the new core range.
