Tasting Notes

About:

We’ll always have a soft spot for Four Grain! The one that started it all for Penelope. Crafted from three bourbons mash bills and four grains (corn, rye, wheat and malted barley), this signature expression is remarkably smooth and approachable.

It was created to bring people together and it does the same for many others, too!
Appearance:
Maple Syrup
Nose:
Orange oils, maple syrup, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. This reminds me of autumn and winter in a glass. Lots of big, rich, sweet flavours that feel like a warm boozy hug.
Palate:
Gentle, sweet and welcoming. Starts off with some sugar covered peanut flavours, it’s a little drying but still sweet. you get the normal arrivals of vanilla, caramel, sweet coffee and some of the sharper, bitter elements of espresso.
Finish:
Light, easy going and still has those warming ‘hug’ elements to it. More cinnamon, maple and nutmeg, maybe even a touch of sweetened or flavoured coffee, either way, the flavours are very soft and very welcoming. The finish itself goes on for a decent amount of time at 40% ABV, it’s got this very peanut and caramel driven quality to it, very moreish.
Comments:
For the price you can get this stuff at, it’s a really solid house bottle for if you want something welcoming and approachable. It’s not a ‘blow your mind’ kind of bottle, but it wasn’t built to do that either. It feels like it was designed to bring drinkers together over something nice and warming.
