Tasting Notes

About:

Glenmorangie, is a scotch brand that should be in everyone’s whisky collection. Glenmorangie is perfumy and light, and reigning in at 2ppm (phenol parts per million) makes this Scotch ever so approachable.

Located near Tain, on the shore of the Dornoch Firth, Glenmorangie has been ahead of its time with experimenting with different cask finishes. Before being transferred to finishing casks, the scotch is aged 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels.
Appearance:
Clear gold with semi-slow legs that don’t really hold to the glass. Tasted neat in a Glencairn glass.
Nose:
Just a darling nose. Simple but inviting. Reserved but approachable. Fresh cream, salt, lime citrus, vanilla flowers, and sugar.
Palate:
Light, sweet, and low complexity. Easy as water to drink.

Above all it is very smooth. Some chocolate, cream, cask oak, a touch of pepper for heat, and orange citrus.
Finish:
Short but satisfying. Buttery mouthfeel of oak and white sugar. Not much else to say.
Comments:
As far as introductions go to a line-up this has to be one of the best. No, it’s not going to blow your doors off, it’s not intending to. It’s designed to ease you into the core line-up for Glenmorangie. You want to know where this brand goes? Start here and go up. If you have friends who “don’t like Scotch” give them a dram of this. See if it changes their mind. It’s an iconic Highland Scotch label that just delivers.
