Tasting Notes:

About:
Deanston 18 Year Old is a Highland single malt from the Deanston Distillery in Doune, Perthshire, housed in a converted cotton mill and powered entirely by hydroelectricity. Matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in first-fill bourbon barrels, it’s bottled at 46.3% ABV without chill filtration, reflecting the distillery’s craft-driven, minimal-intervention ethos. Introduced in the mid-2010s, it has become a respected expression of Deanston’s honest, traditional style.
Appearance:
Light amber.
Nose:
The nose is super light, friendly and inviting. It is full of fresh, zesty sweetness and soft orange notes with a touch of earthy moss and a warm greenhouse aroma. Honey poured over oat cakes and with a floral and grassy edge.
Palate:
A rich buttery texture with floral notes and sweet barley sugar dusted over crisp green apples. Fresh and vibrant with a thick malt forward core providing a wonderful depth. Ginger Carrot cake with a little bit of spice amongst the well balanced notes.
Finish:
A long, warming and friendly finish leaving the malty texture of digestives dunked in a cup of tea.
Comments:
For me, this is one of the best value 18 year old age statements you can find on the market, and I really feel it is a flagship of a well-aged, well-presented welcoming scotch.
