Virginia Distillery Co. has added two American Single Malt whiskies to its Brewer’s Coalition series, finished in casks from The Bruery and Revolution Brewing. The Bruery Black Tuesday Stout Cask Finish and Revolution Brewing Straight Jacket Barleywine Ale Cask Finish launch in September 2026, with just six barrels of each expression available.
Both releases start with the same American Single Malt whisky, made from 100% malted barley and aged for more than five years in ex-bourbon barrels. Each is then finished in a different beer barrel.

“Releasing two expressions at once lets people taste just how much the barrel shapes the whisky- the same single malt, aged over five years in ex-bourbon, taken in two completely different directions,” said Gareth Moore, CEO of Virginia Distillery Co. “Revolution Brewing and The Bruery are two of the most respected names in brewing, and Straight Jacket and Black Tuesday are legendary beers.”
The Bruery Black Tuesday Stout Cask Finish is finished in barrels that previously held The Bruery’s bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout. It is bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).

According to the official notes from the brand, the whisky offers aromas of blackberry jam and caramel, leading into soft citrus, chocolate, and hints of anise on the palate, with a velvety finish.
The Bruery has also released a beer aged in Virginia Distillery Co. barrels.

The Revolution Brewing Straight Jacket Barleywine Ale Cask Finish draws on a barrel-aged barleywine from the Chicago brewery’s Deep Wood Series. It is also bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).
The brand’s official notes cite aromas of oat scones and apricot, with maple syrup and fresh-cut ginger on the palate and a warming, delicately spiced finish.
Revolution sent six freshly dumped Straight Jacket barrels to the distillery for the project.
“In these beautifully nuanced, oak-neutral barrels from Virginia Distillery Co., our supplemental oak applications can sing without having to shout over the heavily-oaked expressions of bourbon,” said Marty Scott, Barrel Program Manager at Revolution Brewing.
The partnership with Revolution Brewing will continue in 2027 with a Twenty Ten Collection variant.
Both whiskies will be available online, at select retailers, and at the Virginia Distillery Co. Visitors Center in Lovingston, Virginia.
