The Dalmore 17 Year Old: A Perfect Mother's Day Gift

The Dalmore has unveiled The Dalmore Aged 17 Years, a new single malt Scotch whisky and the latest expression to join the distillery’s Principal Collection. The release carries a recommended retail price of $236USD (£175) and is available through The Dalmore’s website with optional bottle engraving and personalized notes to create the perfect gift.

The Highland distillery is renowned for its longstanding use of sherry casks in maturation. Its whisky makers developed the 17-year-old expression to deliver what the brand describes as “an even more enriched experience.”

The whisky begins its life in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. It is then finished in a trio of sherry casks — Amoroso, Apostoles, and Matusalem — exclusively sourced from González Byass, The Dalmore’s longstanding partner and fine winemaker.

READ THE STORY

The partnership between The Dalmore and the Spanish sherry and wine producer González Byass has been a defining element of the distillery’s character for decades. Access to rare cask types from González Byass has allowed The Dalmore to craft some of its most celebrated expressions, including those in the Principal Collection and its limited-edition releases.

Official tasting notes from the brand describe the liquid as “a decadent evolution of The Dalmore’s house style, revealing vibrant notes of Seville orange, poached pears, sweet toffee, and orange marmalade, before a lingering finish of dark chocolate orange, warming cinnamon, and delicate nutmeg.”

The Principal Collection serves as the core range of The Dalmore’s permanent lineup. It already includes age-statement expressions such as the 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old, and 18 Year Old. The addition of a 17-year-old fills a gap between the 15 and 18 expressions, offering consumers a new entry point at the upper end of the range.

The use of three distinct sherry cask types in the finishing process sets this release apart from other expressions in the collection. Amoroso casks contribute rich sweetness, Apostoles casks add depth and complexity, and Matusalem casks bring dried fruit and spice characteristics.

The Dalmore Aged 17 Years is available now for direct purchase through The Dalmore’s official website. For those in search of a gift, consumers can add personalized engraving to the bottle at checkout.
