Tilaknagar Industries Ltd. (TI) has entered the premium whisky category with the launch of Seven Islands Pure Malt Whisky, a blend of four single malts from India and Scotland. The Mumbai-based company, India’s largest brandy producer, unveiled the 42.8% ABV whisky priced at INR 5,200 (~$59) in Maharashtra.
The launch follows TI’s recent announcement to acquire Imperial Blue, the world’s third-largest-selling whisky brand.

Seven Islands combines two Indian malts from the Himalayan foothills and Vindhyan ranges with two Scottish malts from Speyside and the Lowlands.
The move positions whisky as TI’s second major growth pillar alongside its brandy portfolio, which includes Mansion House and Monarch Legacy Edition.
“India’s whisky story is evolving faster than ever, with growing consumer demand for premium and luxury expressions,” said Amit Dahanukar, Chairman and Managing Director of Tilaknagar Industries Ltd.
“Seven Islands marks TI’s entry into this dynamic category, bringing together Indian craftsmanship and global expertise to create a whisky that is both distinctly Indian and globally competitive.”
India’s whisky market represents significant opportunity, accounting for 66% of total spirits consumption in 2024 according to IWSR data.
Indian whisky volumes grew 7% year-on-year in the first half of 2025, crossing 130 million cases.
The whisky takes its name from the seven islands that originally formed Mumbai, where TI has been based for 90 years.
“With Seven Islands, we wanted to bring a new perspective and style to Indian whisky,” said Sanaya Dahanukar, Marketing Manager at Tilaknagar Industries Ltd.
“It felt like the right way to introduce something distinctive, and a meaningful step forward for us as we expand into the whisky category.”
Official tasting notes from the brand describe the whisky as having a smooth, inviting aroma with tropical fruits, dried nuts, and hints of French and American oak layered with Indian spice.
The taste profile features sweet dried fruits, soft spice, and a creamy texture with a touch of smoke.
The bottle design features a V-cut neck representing the convergence of Indian and Scottish malts, with cartographic lines referencing Mumbai’s original island contours.
