Sagamore Whiskey has released its High Rye Straight Bourbon Whiskey across the US. The bourbon, part of the brand’s Core Collection, is now available at select premium retailers nationwide and at the distillery in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Maryland-made whiskey features a mash bill of 60% corn, 25% rye and 15% malted rye. It is aged for six years in new charred American white oak barrels and bottled at 54% ABV.

The release marks the brand’s expansion beyond its core rye category. It was crafted to “pay homage to Kentucky’s bourbon heritage while celebrating and advancing Maryland-style whiskey traditions,” according to Fred Minnick.

“This High Rye Straight Bourbon is something we’ve been eager to share nationwide — a whiskey crafted for those who enjoy both bourbon and rye flavors that makes for a memorable pour,” said Ryan Norwood, master distiller at Sagamore Whiskey. “We’re thrilled to share this release with whiskey fans who appreciate something truly distinctive.”

The first limited batch launched locally in the Baltimore area last fall. Since then, it has earned a 91-point score from Whisky Advocate.

Sagamore Whiskey was founded in 2013 and is rooted in Maryland-style rye, one of America’s oldest whiskey traditions. Before Kentucky became famous for bourbon, Maryland farmers turned to rye, which flourished in the region’s fertile soil and coastal climate.

The grain became known for its smoothness and balance. It also played a defining role in the early rise of American cocktail culture.

The brand opened a waterfront distillery in Baltimore in 2017. It uses a signature double mash bill and expert blending to reintroduce Maryland rye to a new generation.

The bourbon carries a suggested retail price of $50.
