Remus Bourbon has unveiled Remus Lou Gehrig Reserve, an ultra-limited bourbon honoring the iconic New York Yankees first baseman, produced at MGP’s Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The 109-proof release follows the brand’s Babe Ruth Reserve expressions in 2024 and 2025, continuing a series that pairs American whiskey with baseball history.

Master Distiller Ian Stirsman crafted the expression using four distinct mash bills in tribute to Gehrig’s legendary No. 4 jersey. The 109 proof honors the 100th anniversary of his 109 RBI season in 1926, the first of 13 consecutive seasons with 100 or more RBIs.

“In the 1920s, only one man was worthy of following Babe Ruth in the lineup, and that was the great Lou Gehrig. In 2026, the same holds true,” said Stirsman. “Every detail was thoughtfully created to celebrate his legacy in a meaningful way, while maintaining the craftsmanship of Remus Bourbon that drinkers love and expect from our distillery.”
A QR code on each bottle’s back label allows consumers to discover what Gehrig did during the specific plate appearance their bottle commemorates.
The blend comprises 14% 2016 bourbon with a 44% rye mash bill, 70% 2017 bourbon with a 49% rye mash bill, 8% 2019 bourbon with a 99% corn mash bill, and 8% 2019 bourbon with a 36% rye mash bill. Official tasting notes from the brand describe warm cinnamon and nutmeg on the nose with hints of leather and clove, a palate of brown sugar, plum, and marshmallow, and a finish of baking spice, toasted cedar, and lingering cinnamon.

Remus Bourbon will donate $9,665 to the Live Like Lou Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to funding ALS research and supporting affected families. An additional dollar will be donated for every like and comment on launch content shared via Instagram, up to $2,130, honoring Gehrig’s consecutive games played streak.
