Jack Daniel’s has launched its American Single Malt Whiskey nationwide across the US in a new annual limited release. The expression was previously available only in select global duty-free retail locations, and its wider rollout coincides with American Single Malt becoming an officially recognized whiskey category.
The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) established American Single Malt as an official category. It is the first new official US whiskey category in more than 50 years.

The whiskey features a 100% malted barley mash bill. It is ground, fermented, and distilled in Lynchburg, Tennessee.
Jack Daniel’s charcoal mellows the spirit through sugar maple charcoal. It is then aged in new, charred American oak barrels and finished in Oloroso Sherry casks.

READ THE STORYAccording to the official notes from the brand, the whiskey is “rich and complex with aromas of soft oak, fruit and cocoa and notes of dark chocolate-covered nuts and berries with a subtle, sweet Oloroso Sherry finish.”
The expression is bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV) in a one-liter size. It carries a suggested retail price of $74.99 (£56).
Jack Daniel’s American Single Malt is available now across the US for a limited time and in limited quantities. The release begins this fall.
The Jack Daniel Distillery was officially registered by the US government in 1866. Based in Lynchburg, Tennessee, it is the first registered distillery in the US and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
