Farm-to-Glass Whiskey Production Sets J. Henry Apart
J. Henry & Sons produces its bourbon using red heirloom corn grown on the family’s Wisconsin farm. The distillery controls every step of production, from milling and mashing to fermenting and aging. Barrels mature in open-air rickhouses where Wisconsin’s extreme temperature swings accelerate the aging process and perfects the finished product.
“This project began with a conversation between friends and became a shared vision,” said Greg Walters of Greg Walters, Inc., which specializes in connecting independent American distilleries with Asian markets. “We’re honored to introduce J. Henry to a market as discerning and globally aware as Taiwan.”

The bourbon’s grain-to-glass approach resonates with Taiwan’s craft spirits market, which values transparency and authenticity. Educational sessions for bartenders and retailers will support the launch, helping communicate the distillery’s agricultural heritage and production methods.
American Whiskey Gains Ground in Asia-Pacific Markets
Taiwan has emerged as a sophisticated market for premium spirits, with consumers showing particular interest in American whiskey. The country imported over $100 million worth of whiskey in 2023, with bourbon representing a growing segment.
J. Henry & Sons joins other craft American distilleries entering Asian markets as demand for premium spirits continues to rise. The expansion comes as American whiskey exports reach record levels globally. The Distilled Spirits Council reported U.S. whiskey exports exceeded $2 billion in 2023, with Asia-Pacific markets driving much of the growth.
The J. Henry & Sons launch represents a measured approach to international expansion. By focusing on relationships and authentic taste experiences rather than volume sales, the partnership aims to establish a sustainable presence in Taiwan’s competitive spirits market.
