Glenturret Deux Terrains 21 Year Old Sauternes Cask Release

The Glenturret has unveiled Deux Terrains, a 21 Years Old single malt finished in Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey Sauternes casks.

The Glenturret is Scotland’s oldest working distillery. It’s new Deux Terrains was matured in sherry-seasoned oak and finished in casks that once held Sauternes wine from Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey. The release is limited to 500 individually hand-numbered bottles and is available exclusively from theglenturret.com from Tuesday 30 June 2026.

Deux Terrains, meaning “Two Lands,” draws together the Scottish Highlands and the vineyards of Bordeaux. The whisky marks The Glenturret’s first exploration of Sauternes cask influence.

READ THE STORY

Distilled at the Crieff distillery, the whisky matured for more than two decades.

It was initially aged in sherry-seasoned oak before being transferred to the Sauternes casks that had previously held wine from Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey, a Premier Grand Cru Classé of 1855.

The Bordeaux château was founded in 1618. Today it sits under the same Lalique guardianship as The Glenturret.

The release celebrates the connection between the two producers. According to the brand, Deux Terrains “reflects a meeting of place, heritage and craftsmanship.”

The Glenturret describes the expression as “a whisky that balances Highland character with the subtle influence of one of France’s most revered wine regions.”

The brand calls it “a rare expression of patience, provenance and intent.”

According to the official tasting notes from the brand, the whisky opens with “bright pineapple” and “an elegant aromatic lift,” followed by caramelized apple and gentle spice.

Layers of vanilla and seasoned oak emerge alongside notes of ginger, sweet cinnamon and ripening citrus. The texture is “soft and fruit-led,” carrying through to “a refined finish of toasted oak.”

The Glenturret traces its history to 1763, making it Scotland’s oldest working distillery. Lalique acquired a majority stake in the distillery in 2019, alongside Swiss entrepreneur Hansjörg Wyss.

Pre-sale bottle numbers were made available to Guild members from Tuesday 23 June 2026.

General sale begins exclusively at theglenturret.com on Tuesday 30 June 2026.

The launch continues a wider trend among premium scotch producers exploring wine-cask finishes to differentiate aged single malt expressions in the luxury market.
