Globus Spirits launches DŌAAB Expression 02 with Japanese Mizunara oak maturation

Globus Spirits Ltd. has unveiled DŌAAB Expression 02: The Old Man & The Blossom, the first Indian single malt whisky matured in authentic Japanese Mizunara oak casks. The limited-edition release from The India Craft Spirit Co. represents a collaboration between Indian distilling and Japanese cask-making traditions.

The whisky is crafted at the India Craft Spirits Co. distillery in Behror, Rajasthan, using sustainably sourced Indian six-row barley.

Mizunara oak casks from Hokkaido, Japan, provide the distinctive maturation for this expression.

“With DŌAAB Expression 02, we continue to explore the art of storytelling through whisky,” said Shekhar Swarup, joint managing director at Globus Spirits Ltd. “This expression represents a dialogue between two cultures, India and Japan, and between two philosophies, heritage and innovation.”

The release takes inspiration from a Japanese fable celebrating the wisdom of time.

P.S. Gill, CEO of the consumer division at Globus Spirits Ltd., highlighted the growing Indian single malt category.

“India’s single malt category is growing in double digits, driven by evolving tastes and an increasing sense of pride among consumers,” Gill stated. “With DŌAAB, our vision is to redefine what an Indian single malt can stand for, globally relevant, deeply authentic, and unmistakably crafted.”

DŌAAB Expression 02 debuted in Gurugram priced between INR 3,500-3,800 ($42-$45). The whisky will expand to premium outlets in select Indian markets.

Official tasting notes from the brand describe delicate fresh florals layered with vanilla warmth on the nose.

The palate offers exceptional smoothness with a velvety mouthfeel and long, elegant finish.

This release follows DŌAAB Expression 01: Six Blind Men & The Elephant, part of The India Craft Spirits Co. portfolio that includes Terai India Dry Gin and Terai India Craft Vodka.

The company’s spirits portfolio has earned over 35 international awards at competitions in London, Berlin, Hong Kong, and San Francisco.

Globus Spirits operates fully integrated distilleries across five Indian states and has over 30 years of presence in India’s alcoholic beverage industry.
