South Seas Distilleries is showcasing Crazy Cock Indian Single Malt Madhuca — billed as the world’s first single malt whisky finished in Mahura casks — at the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference 2026 in Singapore from May 10 to 14. The Indian distillery, known for producing what it calls the country’s oldest single malts, will present the new Madhuca Heritage Editions at Stand No. 2-W21.
The Madhuca Expressions draw inspiration from Mahura, a spirit derived from the Mahua flower (Madhuca Longifolia), native to the forests of Central and Western India.
Three expressions make up the Heritage Editions. Madhuca I was first matured in ex-bourbon and ex-brandy casks before receiving its Mahura finish. Madhuca II was initially shaped by ex-bourbon and ex-wine casks, then completed through Mahura finishing. Madhuca III was matured in ex-bourbon casks and brought to completion in Mahura casks.

The trio joins the existing Crazy Cock Rare (unpeated) and Dhua (peated) expressions in the distillery’s portfolio.
To honor this legacy, South Seas Distilleries previously released a limited edition called "Six Brothers Mahura 1922 Resurrection" in just 102 bottles. The release commemorated 102 years of distilling heritage and celebrated what the company describes as the world’s first matured Mahua spirit. Each bottle was priced at $1,290 (£1,000) at launch, forming the genesis of the Madhuca Heritage Editions.
South Seas Distilleries positions itself as the oldest commercial distiller of Mahua spirit through its Six Brothers Mahura brand. The spirit is double distilled in traditional copper pot stills — the same stills used to produce the distillery’s single malts — and platinum-filtered.
