Boutique Scotch whisky brand Clydebuilt has launched four new expressions, comprising three single cask single malts and one blended malt. The releases from the independent bottling house, owned by Ardgowan Distillery Company, range from £75-£95 and showcase mature stocks from Highland and Speyside distilleries.
The new bottlings include a 27-year-old 100% sherry matured blended malt bringing together Highland and Island whiskies with 33-year-old Benrinnes distillery malt.
Three single cask releases complete the range: a 2009 Fettercairn bourbon hogshead, a 2012 Royal Brackla bourbon hogshead, and a 2014 Ben Nevis sherry butt.
All four expressions are bottled at natural cask strength without added coloring or chill filtration.
The releases coincide with Ardgowan’s significant investment of £5 million ($6.6 million) in mature malt whisky stocks for 2025, with an additional £4 million ($5.3 million) planned for 2026.
“Our bespoke Infinity Casks for Ardgowan spirit are designed for long maturation by their very nature,” said Roland Grain, CEO of Ardgowan Distillery Company.
“The stock we’ve already acquired, and this further investment, ensure Clydebuilt will have solid foundations for the decades ahead until Ardgowan Single Malt is truly ready. This is a key step in achieving our goal to double turnover annually until 2030.”
Laura Davies, whisky maker and Ardgowan’s distillery manager, selected the casks which were aged in the distillery’s traditional dunnage warehouses.
“The Clydebuilt brand stands on craftsmanship and pride in quality, just like the Clyde’s former shipbuilders,” Davies said. “With these new releases, we’ve drawn on exceptional whiskies and incredible, rich casks to create expressions full of character and individuality.”
“These malts show just some of the scope we’re working with in our aged stocks,” she continued. “Having invested £5 million this year in securing stock to lay down for Clydebuilt, there’s a very bright future ahead for the brand.”
Ardgowan Distillery, based in Inverclyde, began distilling its own malt whisky in June. The Clydebuilt brand takes its name from the River Clyde’s shipbuilding heritage, with the term historically synonymous with quality craftsmanship.
In September, Ardgowan announced new distribution partnerships for Clydebuilt across Europe, North America and Asia.
The new bottlings are available from specialist retailers starting today.
