Chattanooga Whiskey has announced the latest release in its Experimental Single Batch Series, Batch 047: Single Pot Still. The new expression is modeled after a traditional Irish whiskey style and will be available starting February 5, 2026.
This release marks the Tennessee distillery’s interpretation of one of Ireland’s most protected and historic whiskey categories. Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is a style defined by its use of a mixed mash bill containing both malted and unmalted barley, all distilled in a pot still within a single distillery.
“As a spirit style, Single Pot Still whiskey has developed a loyal, passionate following,” said Grant McCracken, founding distiller. “So when we decided to make our own version, we knew it had to check all the stylistic boxes: unmalted barley for signature texture and flavor, oats for grain complexity, and pot distillation for that classic spirit quality.”

To create Batch 047, the distilling team selected specific grains to build the desired flavor profile. The mash bill includes floor-malted barley from a historic UK malthouse, a Tennessee-grown unmalted barley variety called Calypso, and a ‘naked’ malted oat known as Streaker Oats from Riverbend Malthouse in Asheville.
This combination of grains is designed to achieve the silky texture and spice-forward character for which the style is known.
The whiskey was double-distilled in the company’s 100-gallon Experimental copper pot still. This process differs from the triple distillation often used by Irish distilleries, with the aim of retaining more character from the grain and fermentation in the final spirit.

For maturation, Chattanooga Whiskey combined Irish and American techniques. The spirit was aged in a blend of new charred oak casks that were long seasoned and custom toasted. This approach deviates from the typical ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry cask aging common in Ireland, adding what the distillery describes as American-style sweetness and depth.
“As distillers, we always want to respect the history of a whiskey style, but we also don’t want it to lack personality,” McCracken added. “It’s a tightrope walk, really – between reverence and creativity. That said, I really think we nailed the landing.”
Founded in 2011, Chattanooga Whiskey played a key role in changing state laws to permit distilling in Chattanooga for the first time in a century. This led to the creation of its Experimental Distillery, which focuses on limited-edition, innovative whiskeys.
The distillery is known for pioneering the “Tennessee High Malt” style, which emphasizes a high proportion of specialty malted grains in its mash bills. The company’s commitment to innovation was recognized when it was named Craft Producer of the Year for America and Global by Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky in 2023.
Bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV), Batch 047: Single Pot Still will be sold at the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery for $59.99 per 750ml bottle.
The release will also be available for online purchase for shipping to select states through Seelbachs.com.
Official notes from the brand describe aromas and flavors of toasted granola, baked pear, gingersnap cookie, and vanilla icing, with a long, creamy finish.
