Chattanooga Whiskey 91 launches 1.5-liter format for Tennessee High Malt expression

Chattanooga Whiskey has unveiled a new 1.5-liter bottle size for its signature Chattanooga Whiskey 91, expanding beyond the existing 750ml and 375ml formats. The Tennessee distillery will offer the larger format at $59.99 at its Experimental Distillery and across retail stores in Tennessee and Georgia.

The move represents a significant expansion for the craft whiskey brand’s flagship expression, which traces its origins to Barrel 91 at the company’s Experimental Distillery.

“It’s been nearly 10 years since the Chattanooga Whiskey 91 recipe was developed,” said Grant McCracken, founding distiller at Chattanooga Whiskey.

McCracken emphasized the social aspect of the larger format: “This new larger size lets Chattanooga Whiskey 91 shine in the way people actually drink it: together.”

The whiskey was originally selected from the distillery’s first 100 experimental barrels and chosen by the entire team as their signature recipe.

“Since then, it’s not only grown into our signature recipe, but has also become a craft whiskey staple, valued for its depth of flavor and the story behind it,” McCracken added.

The new 1.5-liter label maintains the brand’s transparent approach, detailing every ingredient and step of their Tennessee High Malt production process.

“We’ve always been proud to show off every detail behind our whiskey. Roasted and toasted caramel and honey malts, extended fermentations, custom toasted barrels, solera finishing – we want everyone to see the intention behind every step,” McCracken stated.

Chattanooga Whiskey was founded in 2011 and successfully challenged laws to become the first company to distill whiskey in Chattanooga in 100 years. The company operates two facilities: the Experimental Distillery, which hosts over 50,000 visitors annually, and the Riverfront Distillery, opened in 2017 for production.

The distillery was named Icons of Whisky – Craft Producer of the Year for both America and Global at Whisky Magazine’s 2023 World Whiskies Awards.

“You don’t usually see a craft whiskey like this in a 1.5-liter bottle – and this bigger stage lets all those details speak louder,” McCracken concluded.
