Cedar Ridge Distillery of Iowa has announced the launch of the Backpack Bottle Club, a new quarterly whiskey subscription service delivering hand-selected expressions directly to members’ doorsteps. The club is now open for enrollment from the Swisher, Iowa-based distillery, with the first shipment set to begin mid-April 2026.
The inaugural shipment will feature the 2026 QuintEssential Special Release from Cedar Ridge’s limited release series. Members who subscribe by April 3, 2026, will receive this bottle before it becomes available to the general public.
The subscription costs between $60 and $100 per bottle per quarter, plus a $10 flat-rate shipping fee and applicable sales tax. Shipments deliver to most U.S. states, with local distillery pick-up also available.

The club’s name draws on a long-running joke among fans who have mistaken the distillery for an outdoor-gear company. Cedar Ridge said it decided to lean into the association, creating a club name that nods to its playful brand identity.

Beyond quarterly bottle deliveries, membership includes early access to limited releases, behind-the-scenes content, and virtual tastings hosted by the Cedar Ridge team. On-site perks include two complimentary Master List pours and four free distillery tour tickets per year.
Members also receive a 20% discount on Cedar Ridge merchandise and half-off flat-rate shipping on orders through their online shop. Subscribers may skip one shipment per year and cancel before any quarterly billing cycle.
Cedar Ridge Distillery, founded in 2005, holds the distinction of being Iowa’s first distillery since Prohibition.
