Buffalo Trace Distillery has announced the release of two highly anticipated whiskeys: the Weller 18 Year Old and the second edition of Weller Millennium.
These new offerings celebrate the legacy of William Larue Weller, who pioneered wheated bourbon recipes in 1847.
The Second Edition of Weller Millennium
The Weller Millennium series, introduced in May 2024, now presents its second edition. A blend of vintage straight wheated bourbon and wheat whiskeys distilled in 2001, 2003, and 2006.
“Weller Millennium was crafted to feature some of the first whiskeys distilled in the new millennium amid a period of transformation at Buffalo Trace Distillery,” said Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director. “This second edition takes last year’s release a step further, with a new blend that we humbly believe is an improvement over the well-regarded first edition.”
Official tasting notes describe the Weller Millennium #2 as offering a balance of dark cherry, rich butterscotch, and warm vanilla, with a finish that is bold and oak-forward.
The 750ml handcrafted crystal decanter, with a custom-made crystal topper, enhances the luxury experience.
This limited-edition whiskey will be available in July 2025 through Sazerac’s United States and global distributor networks, priced at $7,500.
Weller 18 Year Old: Celebrating Age and Tradition

Weller 18 Year Old stands as the oldest age-stated whiskey in the Weller portfolio. At 90-proof, this ultra-aged wheat whiskey exemplifies the distillery’s commitment to innovation and quality. Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley expressed pride in the release, stating, “Weller 18 Year Old is the culmination of curiosity, tradition, and time. The softness of the wheat has evolved into something rich and wonderfully expressive.”
The tasting notes reveal a nose of delicately aged fruits and tobacco. On the palate, it balances warm baking spices with crisp green pear, leading to a lasting finish.
Packaged in a 700ml handcrafted crystal decanter, the Weller 18 Year Old will be available for purchase at major airports, including Los Angeles International (LAX) and London Heathrow (LHR), starting July 2025, with a suggested retail price of $499.
These releases underscore Buffalo Trace’s ongoing exploration of wheat in whiskey production, continuing the tradition set by William Larue Weller.
The distillery, renowned as “The World’s Most Award-Winning Distillery,” remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of maturation and blending in American whiskey.
