Rémy Cointreau-owned Bruichladdich has unveiled Black Art Sapero, a global travel retail-exclusive single malt Scotch whisky marking the first chapter of a new multi-part series. The 19-year-old expression makes its global debut this month at Singapore Changi Airport T4 in partnership with Lotte Duty Free Singapore.
The exclusive one-month listing period began on November 4 and continues until the end of December.
Black Art Sapero represents a departure from Bruichladdich’s typical transparent approach, with only master blender Adam Hannett knowing the mystery behind the whisky’s provenance, barley varietals, and cask maturation profile.

READ THE STORYThe expression is aged for 19 years and bottled at 47.8% ABV. It has spent its entire maturation at the distillery on Islay in undisclosed casks.
Official tasting notes from the brand describe dark chocolate on the nose, punctuated with citrus orange zest and black cherry. The palate features malted barley, maple syrup and caramelized brown sugar, complemented with layered spices and a subtle mineral note.
“Black Art has always been about embracing the unknown, and creating Sapero was a chance to trust the process entirely,” said Hannett. “Relying on instinct and experimenting with some
of our rarest casks, every decision was guided beyond logic or rule. The result is something truly enigmatic – an unforgettable whisky that invites you to taste, question, and ultimately trust in the mystery.”
The first Bruichladdich Black Art release debuted in 2012. This new series marks a shift to global travel retail exclusivity.
Future releases include Black Art Propheta and Black Art Empresse, scheduled for November 2026 and 2027 respectively.
To support the launch, Bruichladdich and Lotte Duty Free Singapore created The Library of Secrets activation at Changi Airport. The immersive experience features a giant book with a digital touchscreen, a vintage rotary phone with a pre-recorded message from Hannett, and interactive bookshelf merchandising.
Purchasers can personalize a luggage tag with their initials. Travelers who register for the Black Art passport and collect stamps for each purchase can win a trip to meet Hannett at Bruichladdich’s Islay distillery.
“The introduction of Black Art Sapero marks a defining moment for Bruichladdich in global travel retail,” said Rémy Cointreau CEO Global Travel Retail Fida Bou Chabke. “By making this
exceptional series exclusive to the channel, we are offering travellers something truly unique – a whisky born from mystery, craftsmanship and trust.”
Following the Singapore launch, Black Art Sapero will be available in selected global travel retail locations from December 2025.
