Berry Bros. & Rudd has launched the second release of its Private Cask Collection, featuring 25 exclusive octave casks of single malt whisky and rum. The collection allows customers to bottle their own cask with personalized labeling, following a successful first release earlier this year.
The London-based wine and spirits merchant’s latest offering includes carefully selected single malts from Scottish distilleries and fine rums, each finished in 62-liter octave casks.
A standard American barrel is around 190to 200 liters and a traditional sherry butt would be around 450 to 500 liters.
These octaves are one-eighth the size of traditional whisky butts, allowing for more intense wood interaction and faster flavor development.
Each octave cask yields up to 90 bottles, which customers can customize with personal messaging on the labels.

The spirits are finished in fortified wine casks including Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, Fino, Moscatel, and rare Palo Cortado varieties.
Johnny Roberts, Managing Director of Brands, said: “Each of these casks has been hand-selected by our expert whisky curator, Felix Dear, from our extensive collection of single casks. Carefully nurtured over years of maturation, they now reach a rare and remarkable moment.”
He added: “Our customers have the exclusive opportunity to bottle their very own cask from Berry Bros. & Rudd, capturing a legacy of flavour that is theirs alone.”
The fortified wine finishes impart distinct flavor profiles ranging from dried fruits and dark chocolate notes from Oloroso casks to the floral and raisin characteristics of Moscatel.
All spirits are bottled at cask strength in Scotland using Berry Bros. & Rudd’s bespoke bottles containing 40% recycled content. The packaging incorporates other sustainable elements including biodegradable heat shrink and FSC-certified cartons and labels.
Berry Bros. & Rudd have offered the casks to existing private customers from November 3, with wider availability beginning November 10.
Additional casks are scheduled for release in early 2026.
The Private Cask Collection represents a growing trend among heritage spirits merchants offering bespoke bottling experiences to collectors and enthusiasts seeking unique, personalized expressions and bespoke whisky bottlings.
