
Bardstown Bourbon Company has debuted Bourbon Gifting Reimagined, a program it calls a first-of-its-kind NFC-powered gifting application in the American whiskey category. The initiative, launching ahead of Father’s Day, allows consumers to attach a premium NFC sticker to any bottle and load it with a custom message, photo, or video that recipients unlock with a single smartphone tap.
The program uses NFC technology in spirits to create a consumer-driven personalization tool. While connected packaging has appeared across the drinks industry before, Bardstown Bourbon Company claims this is the first deployment at scale as a secondary, consumer-facing gifting experience.
“At Bardstown Bourbon Company, we’re always exploring what bourbon can become,” said Dan Callaway, master blender. “This is a natural extension of that mindset. It’s not about changing the bottle—it’s about adding something to it. Something personal. Something that lasts.”
The technology was developed in partnership with label specialist Eurostampa and connected packaging platform io.tt. The NFC tag is embedded into a premium front-label medallion, distinguishing it from back-label QR code solutions.

The program will be available nationwide across retail, events, and at the brand’s Bardstown, Kentucky, distillery and Louisville tasting room. Consumers can also request a free NFC sticker shipped directly to their home via bardstownbourbon.com/gifting.
Though timed to Father’s Day, the digital platform is designed for year-round use across birthdays, celebrations, and everyday occasions. The launch reflects Bardstown Bourbon Company’s broader innovation strategy, which extends beyond liquid development into packaging and consumer experience.
