Baker's Bourbon Releases Limited 13 Year Old Single Barrel

Bourbon enthusiasts seeking rare aged whiskey have a new target as James B. Beam Distilling Co. announces its latest limited edition release. The distillery unveiled Baker’s 13 Year Old Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, featuring extended aging that promises enhanced flavor complexity from individual barrels.

The new expression builds on Baker’s signature approach of bottling from single barrels without batching or mixing. Each bottle comes from one specific barrel location within the rickhouse, creating unique flavor profiles based on warehouse positioning. The bourbon ages for 13 years, compared to the standard seven-year minimum for regular Baker’s releases.

“While the notes of every barrel of Baker’s offer a unique tasting journey, you can expect a few defining characteristics,” according to the distillery’s official tasting notes. The nose presents fruit, vanilla, and caramel aromas. The palate delivers medium body with oak, toasted nuts, vanilla, and fruity notes. The finish is described as robust, medium long, and warmly rounded.

The extended aging allows the bourbon to extract additional toasted nut, fruit, and vanilla flavors from the barrel wood. Baker’s base bourbon is distilled to a lower proof before barreling, which the company says contributes to its distinctive character.

Pricing and Heritage Mark Baker’s Bourbon Premium Positioning

The 13 Year Old Single Barrel expression carries an SRP of $149.99 for a 750ml bottle and is bottled at 107 proof.

Baker’s Bourbon honors Baker Beam, Jim Beam’s grand-nephew and a sixth-generation distiller. Known for arriving at the Clermont distillery on his motorcycle wearing a black leather jacket and wide-brimmed hat, Baker Beam developed a reputation as an independent spirit within the famous whiskey family. His cousin Booker Noe created Baker’s Bourbon in his honor after Baker’s retirement.

The brand forms part of the James B. Beam Small Batch Collection, which Booker Noe developed as one of the first super-premium bourbon collections. The single barrel approach means each bottle can vary based on factors including rickhouse floor and rack position. The company highlights examples from floor 5, rack 17 and floor 7, rack 21 to demonstrate these variations.
