Ardgowan Distillery Highlights Sustainable Production Methods
The tours promise to showcase what the company calls “unusual elements” in its whisky-making process, though specific details remain undisclosed. You will have to visit to find out!
The distillery emphasizes sustainability as a core principle of its operations, which began when it filled its first cask in June.
Visitors will explore both the production facility and warehouse before participating in a tutored tasting session. The experience includes samples from the distillery’s Clydebuilt range, its current whisky portfolio.
An on-site shop opens the same day as tours begin, operating from 10 AM to 5 PM. Tuesday through Saturday. A special bottling, the Distillery Exclusive Clydebuilt 2012 Pedro Ximénez Hogshead Single Cask Single Malt, will sell for £85.
Industry Veteran Leads Ardgowan Distillery Visitor Experience
Barbara Campbell, a fifth-generation whisky industry professional, heads the visitor center operations. Campbell previously managed Glen Ord Distillery’s visitor center starting in 1990 and became Diageo’s first female brand ambassador.
“When I decided to talk to Ardgowan about joining the team, my intention was to inspire a new generation of whisky drinkers, enthusiasts like me and witness whisky production move in an innovative new way,” Campbell said in a statement.
“It was quite simply a case of ‘what’s not to love’ when you see what Ardgowan have committed to with the wonderful, sustainable new distillery, alongside their commitment to being world-class and introducing the first new cask size for many years – ‘the Infinity Cask’ – intended for a luxurious maturation to look forward to in the future.”
The independent distillery represents one of several new Scottish whisky producers opening in recent years as demand for scotch whisky continues growing globally.
Located in Inverkip on Scotland’s west coast, the distillery sits approximately 30 miles west of Glasgow, making it accessible for day trips from Scotland’s largest city.
