Brooklyn-based PM Spirits has been appointed the exclusive US importer of Amrut Distilleries Ltd, the Bangalore-based distillery that played a huge part in establishing Indian single malt whisky on the world stage.
The appointment, effective May 1, 2026, formalizes and expands a partnership that began more than a decade ago when PM Spirits served as Amrut’s New York state distributor.
The move sees Amrut transition from its previous US importer, Glass Revolution Imports, which first brought the brand to the American market.

“We’re very excited about this new partnership, which is less of something new and more of a continuation of years of success together,” said Ashok Chokalingam, master distiller and chief operating officer at Amrut Distilleries. “I’m confident that the synergies between our companies will ensure many years of growth and success.”
Founded in 1948, Amrut Distilleries remains family-owned and operated under the leadership of Rakshit N Jagdale. The distillery produces most of its whisky from 100% Indian barley primarily sourced from the foothills of the Himalayas.
Amrut ages its spirit at over 3,000 feet above sea level in Bangalore, where the warm tropical climate drives a remarkably fast maturation rate and a higher-than-average angel’s share.
What Will Whisky Look Like in 2027? Voices from Whisky Live Paris
READ THE STORYThe brand first captured global attention in 2010, when whisky writer Jim Murray ranked its flagship single malt as the third-best whisky in the world. That recognition marked a watershed moment for the global spirits industry, demonstrating that world-class whisky could be produced outside traditional regions such as Scotland, Ireland, and Japan.
Today, Amrut’s portfolio spans classic unpeated and peated single malts, the innovative Amrut Fusion expression, and a growing range of rum and gin.
Glass Revolution Imports, which had served as Amrut’s US importer since 2009, leaves behind a significant legacy. The company was the first to import single malt whiskies from India, Australia, and England into the US market.
“Retiring from a business that has become a passion is never easy,” said Raj Sabharwal, founding partner of Glass Revolution Imports. “We are proud of our efforts to have established and built Amrut Distilleries as a successful brand in the US market. We feel confident that the team at PM Spirits will build on our legacy and continue to grow Amrut’s presence in the market.”
PM Spirits, founded in 2011 by Nicolas Palazzi, began as a cognac importer and has since expanded into armagnac, calvados, eau de vie, rum, mezcal, whisky, and other categories. The company distributes nationally across more than 40 states.
The Indian whisky category has seen significant growth in the US in recent years, with American consumers increasingly seeking out expressions from non-traditional whisky-producing regions. Amrut’s addition strengthens PM Spirits’ portfolio of independent and artisan producers.
“I was lucky enough to be introduced to Amrut over a decade ago, and since then my mind has genuinely been blown by the consistency and impeccable quality of every single release of theirs, from replenishable products to one-off bottlings,” said Nicolas Palazzi, founder of PM Spirits. “It is very hard to make things at such a high quality across the board for such a long time, yet Amrut does it. I’m proud to follow the footsteps of Glass Revolution and begin this journey as Amrut’s new US importer.”
PM Spirits will represent the full Amrut portfolio across the US market beginning in May.
