Aberlour Unveils First 50 Year Old Whisky
Aberlour has unveiled its first 50 Year Old whisky priced at $34,876

Aberlour has released its first 50 Year Old single malt Scotch whisky and it is limited to just 20 bottles globally. The ultra-rare Speyside whisky will be available exclusively through The Whisky Exchange from November 11, 2025, priced at $34,876.92 (£31,000).

The release represents a milestone for the Pernod Ricard-owned distillery, which has never before offered a whisky of this age.

Master Distiller Graeme Cruickshank and his team oversaw the final stages of the whisky’s five-decade maturation.

“The Aberlour 50 Year Old is more than just a whisky; it’s a living legacy, a culmination of time, nature, and the unwavering dedication of our craftspeople,” said Cruickshank.

“Each drop tells a story of five decades of careful nurturing, reflecting the unique character of our Speyside home and the deep expertise passed down through the distillery’s history. This is truly an expression for those who seek the exceptional and the storied.”

The official tasting notes from the brand describe soft fruits on the nose including ripe apricot, red apple, pear and cantaloupe melon.

These are complemented by toasted hazelnut, light meringue and marshmallow dipped in milk chocolate, with nutmeg and cinnamon adding warmth.

The palate features orange marmalade, creamy vanilla fudge and vanilla custard tart, offset by stem ginger soaked in syrup.

Each decanter comes in a bespoke oak cabinet created by contemporary designer John Galvin. The cabinet is constructed from twelve oak staves using traditional cooperage techniques, with an exterior carved to reflect natural bark textures.

A unique milled granite plinth accompanies each presentation case, hewn from stone taken from the distillery’s decommissioned warehouse.

The release follows growing demand for ultra-aged single malts from collectors and investors worldwide.

Aberlour was founded in 1879 and has become known for its sherry cask-matured whiskies. The distillery forms part of Pernod Ricard’s Scotch impressive whisky portfolio alongside the likes of The Glenlivet and Chivas Regal.
