The new Angus Dundee 50 Year Old Blended Grain Scotch, according to those behind it, uses whiskies which were distilled in classic column stills. Grain types used in this blended whisky include wheat, un-malted cereals and malted barley, all of which were aged in American white oak for half a century.
This release, bottled at 40.1% ABV, is being made available in a special bottle housed inside a velvet lined wooden box. It is limited to just 390 bottles, each pricing around £900, or about $1,200 USD. Plans call for it to be available in travel retail and select markets.
“I never thought mature grain whisky could exhibit such depth of flavour and quality,” said Duncan Baldwin, Brand Development Director at Angus Dundee, in a prepared statement. “This 50 year old blend is extraordinarily good.”
