Comments:
Is this whiskey? No. Is this Eggnog? Not quite. Is this a dessert in a glass? Yes! Put this over ice and it’s a readymade dessert drink. It is creamy with a robust mouthfeel; it is sweet with just enough sugar to feel indulgent without becoming chemically. The sugar doesn’t feel fake. The peanut butter flavor is also a fun element to this and plays well overall. I wouldn’t consider this an “eggnog” but it is surprisingly good especially for the pending holidays.

Eggnog is a traditional drink made during the winter holiday season. It’s creamy, sweet, and has a nice foam with a lovely punch of oak and whiskey. When it is made right, it feels like you’re stepping into a Charles Dickens novel.

There are dozens of pre-mixed cocktails or ready made cocktails on the market. From canned cocktails to eggnog, there are plenty of new items for the consumer. Whiskey creams are also exploding, Buffalo Trace and Ezra Brooks have brought a Bourbon Cream to market in recent years.

Now the “first peanut whiskey” is bringing back its pre-made eggnog to market. Skrewball is based out of San Diego, California. The origins of the whiskey started as a peanut butter shot at the owner’s bar in Ocean Beach, part of San Diego.

A list of ingredients for a traditional Eggnog, for reference, are: six large egg yolks, ½ cup of granulated sugar, 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 2 cups milk, ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg, pinch of salt, ¼ teaspoon vanilla, ground cinnamon, ¼ cup bourbon. Served in a big mixing bowl and ladled into small cups with a dusting of cinnamon or nutmeg on top.

In press release by Skrewball, “Eggnog is the top holiday cocktail in more than half of the United States – and for many, their holiday spread isn’t even complete without the spirit,” said Skrewball Whiskey co-founders Steven and Brittany Yeng. “We know the holidays are often a busy time period, and we wanted to simplify getting eggnog on the table or gifting a unique alcoholic beverage for our Skrewball family by creating a new ready-to-serve option that offers a unique twist to match the holiday spirit.”

A peanut butter whiskey eggnog premade cocktail ready for the holiday season. With that, we turn to the glass.
