While there may be whiskey shortages, one thing is for sure: there is no shortage of stainless steel, vacuum-sealed, double walled drinkware. After reviewing a cocktail shaker and the NOS’R whiskey glass, we now present to you the ORCA Whiskey Barrel Tumbler. Yes, it looks like a barrel.
ORCA competes with the likes of Yeti, Hydro flask, and BrüMate. As a clumsy person, I can appreciate the vast array of adult sippy cups offered on the market. When I am not writing reviews, I am often traveling in my car. I brought the ORCA Whiskey Barrel Tumbler with me all week.
This particular stainless steel cup has its pros and cons. The tumbler fits perfectly into a cupholder. It does what it is supposed to do; it keeps cold liquids cold and hot liquids hot. However, the barrel shape does not work with small hands as it is too wide. Imagine holding a coffee mug without a handle. The silicone grip rings work, but they also are easy to move. On the other hand, I have not lost them yet.
I have a love/hate relationship with the lid. Despite the fact that I love how it screws on tightly, it is very awkward to drink from. You can build a drink inside the tumbler over ice and shake it without a drop spilling. While the whale tale mouth plug is adorable, it bumps up against the bridge of the nose when sipping.
If you use ice in the ORCA Whiskey Barrel Tumbler, you will still find bits of ice 12 hours later. The nice thing about this particular stainless steel double walled cup is it is dishwasher safe on the top rack. It cleans nicely without residue spots on the stainless steel, and the outer coating with the design does not get damaged. Surprising because the outer design looks like a cheap plastic wrapping, however, it is a durable coating.

Appearance: Oak wood grain with two silicone grip rings to look like barrel hoops. The lid is a clear screw top with a sipping hole.

Final Thoughts: The ORCA Whiskey Barrel Tumbler is a sturdy cup. While it is more of a novelty item, do not let that distract from its purpose. Big ice cubes can fit inside the tumbler, and it is fully dishwasher safe. To work around the awkwardness of sipping from the lid, just use a reusable straw.
