Elijah Craig Bourbon Announces Second Old Fashioned Week

Elijah Craig Bourbon recently announced its second annual Old Fashioned Week, a ten-day event designed to celebrate the cocktail while raising money for the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation (RWCF), an organization dedicated to uplifting the hospitality industry.

Elijah Craig created Old Fashioned Week in 2020 and partnered with RWCF to raise $100,000 for the advocacy and action nonprofit that gives back to restaurant workers. This year, with the industry is still deeply in need of support, Elijah Craig pledges to donate up to an additional $100,000 for the cause by donating five dollars for each photo of an Elijah Craig Old Fashioned that’s uploaded to Instagram using the hashtag #oldfashionedweek with the tag @elijahcraig.

Those who post will be automatically entered into the Old Fashioned Week Sweepstakes which will select 500 winners at-random to receive an Elijah Craig Home Bar Kit (featuring Elijah Craig merchandise for creating what’s described as the perfect at-home cocktail).

Elijah Craig will also donate one dollar for every online sweepstakes registration for the Elijah Craig Home Bar Kit. The Old Fashioned Week Sweepstakes photo contest and online registration began September 1, 2021 via social media and www.old fashionedweek.com.

“The past year and a half has had an immeasurable impact on the hospitality industry, and we are honored to support the efforts of the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation — an organization that shares Elijah Craig’s values of community and uplifting the hospitality industry,” Elijah Craig Senior Brand Manager Max Stefka said in a prepared statement.

The event is set to take place from October 15-24, 2021 via an in-person and digital format. In addition, Elijah Craig is nodding to its Elijah Craig Small Batch Kentucky Bourbon, which it describes as the “perfect note of rich flavor and full body that expertly balances the spirit-forward Old Fashioned.” A recipe for the distillery’s Old Fashioned can be found below.

Ingredients:

2 oz. Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
.25 oz. Simple Syrup
3 Dashes of Bitters
Orange Swath
1 Brandied Cherry (optional)

Instructions:

In a mixing glass, add bitters, simple syrup, Elijah Craig Small Batch, and ice. Stir until well chilled. Strain the cocktail over a large ice cube in a double old fashioned glass. Garnish with an orange peel and an optional brandied cherry.
