Tasting Notes

About:

A blend of malted barley and grain Irish whiskeys, it is aged for five years in 1st-fill select Bourbon barrels and finished for nine months in Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 46% ABV, it is priced at $42.
Appearance:
As you look at it in the glass, it has some nice brown and amber colors. The legs are moderate, and the viscosity is thick.
Nose:
Grain forward with a slight hint of nuttiness takes the sniffing stage, showcasing toffee, Christmas pudding, milk chocolate, hazelnuts, and a light amount of oak.
Palate:
This drink is soft and simple on the palate, delicately delivering that sherry cask finish. Notes to consider here include vanilla, oak, hazelnuts, malted chocolate, graham crackers, baked bread, and dried figs.
Finish:
This is a nice one to let slowly leave your mouth as you swallow. It conveys a nutty and sweet finish that holds for a moderate amount of time and ends pleasantly.
Comments:
This is a nicely done Irish whiskey for what it is, and one that I found enjoyable enough to be happy with. It doesn’t melt my mind with excitement, but that’s okay in this case.
