Tasting Notes

About:

Bushmills is an Irish whiskey distillery located in Northern Ireland. The distillery was founded in 1784 and is currently owned by Proximo Spirits. This bottle is part of the new Private Reserve series and a limited release. The whiskey was distilled and aged in accordance with normal Bushmills practices before being aged secondarily in Moscate casks.

Appearance:
Soft gold, with hints of red wine.
Nose:
Raisins, sweet white grapes, a touch of pipe smoke gives way to caramelized brown sugar. The tail end of the nose gives rise to soft spring flowers like daisies.
Palate:
The sweetness of the nose carries through into the initial tasting. The profile is smooth and creamy albeit watery in texture with soft cream notes. Touch of baking spices and coffee. About the midpalate there is a touch of apricot or peach.
Finish:
Smooth and even while being lightly floral. Holds lightly across the tongue leaving whisps of earthy whiskey across the back of the tongue.
Comments:
This reviewer envisions this whiskey as the perfect camping companion. It is light and easy to sip without requiring fine glassware to be enjoyed. Sometimes you want a workhorse whiskey that has enough flavor to spark conversation, but really is the vehicle to extend conversation. That’s where this whiskey fits nicely into someone’s cabinet.

In the end, if a companion pulled out a bottle of this on the trail or while I was working in the garage, my night is going to go well.
