True Story Finished Bourbon was aged for five to six years in virgin, American charred oak barrels before being finished for six months in white Moscatel wine casks.

About:

The latest brand to be launched by the former Angel Envy’s Founder and the new owner of the Kentucky Castle, Wes Henderson. This is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished in White Moscatel casks.
Appearance:
Peanut Oil
Nose:
Cantaloupe and fresh melon
Palate:
A very light beginning followed by a cooling white grape wash. The mid-palate opens up even further adding an element of warmth, spices, oak and fresh berries.
Finish:
The finish lingers quite a bit, particularly for a 90-proof bourbon. The finish retains that warmth spice from the mid-palate but is balanced with some of the oaky tannic qualities more commonly associated with bourbon.
Comments:
This is a very fun release, the unique choice of cask finish and the more approachable ABV make it a good launch for the new brand. The bottles as well with their completely opaque black matte finish present a nice contrast to their finished rye which was released at the same time in matte white bottles. Surely something to catch the consumers eye
