Tasting Notes

About:

10-year-old age-stated bourbon; mash bill 79% corn, 11% rye, and 10% malted barley; bottled at 50% ABV; priced at $115.
Appearance:
A golden-honey color tilted towards a darker complexity reflects in the glass, bringing moderate legs and viscosity.
Nose:
This one has a vibrant nose coming towards me aggressively even as I neared to smell, showcasing considerations of honey, graham cracker, brown sugar, slight spice, vanilla, and a bit of dark chocolate.
Palate:
The palate on this one is multi-layered but, at the same time, surprisingly not that complex, bringing forth notes of black pepper, oak, vanilla, brown sugar, and creme brulee against other considerations of graham cracker and a hint of pear.
Finish:
It has a decent finish but fades a little too fast for me, offering some nuances but leaving me wanting much more.
Comments:
This is a tougher one to call. It is a fine-tasting bourbon, but I’m not overly excited about it. The price point for what it is thus comes into consideration as well – I don’t think the value point aligns with what’s in the bottle, frankly.
