Tamdhu Set To Release Batch Strength No. 006 Of Its Scotch

Speyside’s Tamdhu Single Malt Scotch Whisky announced recently it will release the sixth limited edition of its Batch Strength’ series.

Tamdhu’s single malt scotch whisky is exclusively matured in hand-picked Oloroso sherry casks, from start to finish. The seasoned wood imparts a deep copper hue and a complex flavor profile, as Batch Strength No. 006 is bottled non-chill filtered at 113.6 proof.

Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu distillery manager, said that a large number of the casks chosen were first-fill, which resulted in an even more complex whisky for the sherry wood connoisseur.

He noted in a prepared statement that the Batch Strength series is one of their most popular releases. “And Batch Strength No.006 is sure to appeal to our fans old and new … the first-fill Oloroso sherry casks give this whisky a rich, complex taste and long, rewarding finish.”

He said that on the nose, the whisky has fresh spiciness from the oak followed by roasted nuts and warming vanilla. On the palate, it tastes of summer berry pudding with a dollop of crème anglaise. A drop of water brings orange, lemon and a bit of oak spice. The finish is lingering with fruit, spice and  sherry notes followed by swells of cinnamon spice combined with figs and citrus zest.

Bottles of Tamdhu Batch Strength No. 006 are available to purchase from http://www.tamdhu.com/our-collection/batch-strength-006 at a retail price of £79.99 per 70cl bottle, and can be found at specialist retailers.

Batch Strength No. 005 won ‘Gold’ at The Spirits Business Luxury Masters in 2020. Its predecessor, Batch No. 004, garnered a ‘Gold’ award in the Scotch Speyside, No Age Statement category at the World Whiskies Awards in 2020 and a ‘Gold’ at The Scotch Whisky Masters as well as a ‘Double Gold’ at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
