Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky recently added to its Batch Strength Series.
A statement from Tamdhu explained that Batch Strength 008 is matured in Oloroso Sherry seasoned casks from the bodegas of Jerez, Spain. The whisky clocks in at 55.8% ABV.
The eighth edition in this series includes a high proportion of first-fill Sherry casks to create the Speyside whisky, the rare wood imparting a copper glow and unique taste.
The distiller’s notes show that on the nose are nutty layers of Spanish oak, with the scent of vanilla and honeycomb. The taste is of a summer orchard, with berries and sweet, candied lemon peel. The whisky finishes long with hints of figs lingering on the palate.
Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu’s distillery manager, said that Batch Strength No. 008 encapsulates their commitment to crafting exclusively Sherry-matured whisky.
“With each Oloroso sherry cask carefully hand-selected, this expression delivers an exquisite and nuanced flavor, leaving a memorable and gratifying finish that embodies the essence of Speyside,” he added.
