New Benriach Cask Edition Collection Contains 19 Single Malt Expressions

Benriach Distillery recently announced the release of Benriach Cask Edition Collection 2021, which contains 19 premium expressions, each crafted individually.

Nurtured and selected at its optimum maturation point by Benriach’s Master Blender Rachel Barrie, the collection contains both peated and unpeated styles of whisky, with each expression celebrating what’s seen as the unique flavor impacted by its cask. Eleven different cask types were used in the new release, from Madeira to Moscatel hogsheads and rum barrels to port pipe.

Ranging from 1994 to 2009, a plethora of different flavors. according to the distillery team, are found throughout the collection, including the smoked nutmeg of the Madeira cask and the smoldering pine nut and rich campfire smoke found in the Oloroso sherry butt.

“When it comes to experimenting with flavor through our rich inventory of cask types at Benriach, it is important to appreciate the individuality of the cask and its back story to tease out its full potential,” Master Blender at Benriach Distillery Rachel Barrie said in a prepared statement. “Benriach Cask Edition Collection 2021 offers an insight into this journey, capturing unique moments in time at our Speyside distillery. Exploring cask maturation at this specific level continues to excite me about the flavor possibilities of Benriach.”

John Duff opened the doors of Benriach Distillery in 1898. Standing on the site of the old Riach farm in north Speyside, the distillery draws water from a mineral-rich aquifer, deep beneath the distillery. In traditional form, Benriach Distillery distills three styles of whisky; classic unpeated, Highland peated and triple distilled. Through the use of multiple different types of casks, it has created some of the richest, most multi-layered whiskies in Speyside.

Benriach Cask Edition Collection 2021 is available to purchase from specialist retailers in select markets globally. Expressions 21 years and over will be available in a secondary box. Younger expressions in the collection will be available in a secondary tube.
