Laphroaig Triple Wood A Whiskey A Woodchuck Could Love

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? While not entirely relevant to the topic of whiskey, if the woodchuck were part of the folks at Laphroaig Distillery, it would be considering three types of wood as the basis for this Scotch maker’s new seasonal expression known as Triple Wood.

Triple Wood, according to the distillery, goes through

a distinct triple maturation process that includes ex-bourbon barrels, 19th Century-style quarter casks and specially selected European Oak oloroso sherry casks. This process creates a complex whisky that boasts a rich blend of creamy vanilla and hints of sweet fruit, while retaining the distinctive smoky peat flavor of Laphroaig.

This limited edition Scotch is bottled at 48% ABV and is non-chill filtered. It returned to market for this latest engagement as a result of high demand from Friends of Laphroaig, which is a fan loyalty group, and prices for around $60 for a 750 ml bottle.
