Distillery Exclusive From Old Pulteney Brings The Maritime Malt

Old Pulteney Distillery recently debuted an all-new exclusive whisky, their newest addition to the Old Pulteney collection.

A statement from the whisky maker notes that this Old Pulteney Distillery Exclusive pays homage to Old Pulteney’s hometown on the Caithness Coast in the Scottish Highlands.

The distiller’s notes show the whisky to have rich flavors of toffee, caramelized popcorn and creamy vanilla, intertwined with the briny undertones that Old Pulteney whisky is known for.

The statement from the distiller notes that this whisky is a “unique take on The Maritime Malt.” To create this single malt, Distillery Manager Malcolm Waring hand-selected his favorite casks to create a certain profile, then kept a watchful eye over the whisky as it matured at Pulteney’s distillery in Wick.

The whisky was first filled in American oak casks before further maturation in French oak. The traditional warehouses exposed to the sea air blowing in off the North Sea allowed Old Pulteney to capture the taste of the ocean.

Old Pulteney Distillery Exclusive clocks in at 53% ABV, slightly higher than their core collection. The distiller notes that this allows the flavors of caramelized fruit, nutmeg and honey to come to the forefront.

The limited-edition single malt is exclusively available to buy from Pulteney Distillery and from Old Pulteney’s online shop at www.oldpulteney.com/whiskies/distillery-exclusive. It has a suggested retail price of £85 per 70cl bottle.
