30 Year Macallan Debuts From New Bottler Halcyon Spirits

Halcyon Spirits, Scotland’s newest, family-owned independent whisky bottler, recently introduced a single cask Macallan 30 Year Old.

A statement from Halcyon, which is based in Aberdeenshire, noted that the new brand comes from brothers Daniel and Craig Milne, who also co-founded the global auction platform Whisky Hammer as well as whisky e-retailer Still Spirit.

For this bottling, the prepared statement explained, The Macallan 30 Year Old matured in a first-fill Sherry cask. Halcyon Spirits bottled the whisky, which clocks in at 49.8% ABV, and set a suggested price of £2,950 per bottle. In all, only 238 bottles are available online through the Halcyon Spirits website.

Along with the introduction of this newly bottled, vintage spirit, Halcyon Spirits looks to plant 10 trees for every bottle sold. That could mean 2,380 trees being planted in the brand’s effort to tackle climate change.

The brothers Milne launched the new spirits brand shortly after completing the construction of new cask warehousing, which would store more than 2,000 casks. They did so, the press release states, to securely store, mature, and bottle whisky from Scotland’s most sought-after distilleries.

For their process, the casks selected by the Halcyon team are bottled on site in Aberdeenshire.

“Launching Halcyon Spirits has been a true passion project for my brother Craig and I. As whisky fanatics ourselves, our goal is to be able to find and share incredible whiskies with others,” Daniel Milne said.

He explained that the name “Halcyon” encapsulates their “dedication to bottle exceptional whiskies which, when enjoyed, can allow our customers to relive memories of joy and nostalgia. The name also has deep significance to our family as it pays homage to our grandfather’s fishing boat, Halcyon BF187.”
