Widow Jane’s Latest Bourbon Raising Funds For Hospitality Workers

The hospitality industry has been one of the hardest hit when it comes to the economic impacts of the ongoing pandemic. The opening and closing and opening and closing of bars and restaurants across the country has left many servers, bartenders and cooks with no jobs or extremely reduced hours. Some industry efforts have happened to try and help them out financially, with one of the latest of these being a fundraising bourbon for sale out of New York.

The new Widow Jane “You’ll Never Walk Alone” 10 Year Old Bourbon, according to those behind it, is a limited edition bottling from New York-based Widow Jane. This distillery has taken a variant of its 10 year old bourbon for this release, making it an over proof, “distiller’s chose” expression that, instead of the standard 91 proof this distillery’s bourbons come in at, has instead been made at 100 proof.

“As the pandemic lingers on into the Fall,” said Widow Jane Distillery President and Head Distiller & Blender Lisa Wicker in a prepared statement, “it’s clear that the need for economic support among hospitality professionals remains high. At Widow Jane, our bartender and bar community are an important part of our frontline.

We want them to know they are missed, that we are there for them and that ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.”

The bourbon is packaged with an enhanced label noting the relief effort and a label cut-out with the phrase “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” a direct message of support from the brand to bartenders in the United States. 3,300 bottles of it are being made available for sale in CA, Washington D.C., FL, IL, NY & TX.

As to who it supports, Widow Jane it will donate “100% of the proceeds from sales of You’ll Never Walk Alone to COVID-19 relief and guarantees a minimum donation of $50,000, allocated to applicants of both the USBG Foundation’s Bartender Emergency Assistance Program, as well to CORE (Children of Restaurant Employees).”
