Revitalized South Carolina Whiskey Brand Unveils Two New Bottlings

As a business it is sometimes hard to bounce back when your product isn’t selling well. Such was the case at one point for Virgil Kaine, a sourced bourbon brand out of South Carolina. A little creative marketing and a new bottle design turned things around for them though, and now, with stronger sales, they’ve introduced recently two new whiskies that perhaps could help see the brand grow further out of its Southern distribution base.

The first new offering from Virgil Kaine is its High Rye Bourbon, which was bottled at 90 proof. It was reported recently this release features a mash bill that’s “60 percent corn and 46 percent rye.” Tasting notes from those behind it indicate it to be big, bold and balanced.

The other bottling is dubbed Robber Baron Rye Whiskey. Bottled at 91 proof, tasting notes for it speak of a “full mouth flavor built on rich layers of spices and citrus.” Both it and the High Rye should be pricing for around $30 a bottle, with distribution seeming to be mostly in South Carolina as of when this post was published.
