A spirits brand founded by Scottish actor Graham McTavish is releasing its first bottled-in-bond whiskey, The Warchief.
Officials with McTavish Spirits noted that The Warchief was hand-selected by McTavish himself, and the actor said this expression is meant to highlight the American tradition of bourbon history and to pay homage to the Scottish immigrants that laid the foundation of American whiskey.
You will recognize McTavish as Dwalin from “The Hobbit” trilogy. His spirits company mission statement is “to create a vibrant community that brings people together over their shared love for whiskey and other spirits.”

He said, in the prepared statement, that “as a Scotsman who grew up dreaming of America, this whiskey is the perfect expression of my own life path and of my love for the true ‘American spirit.’”
“Graham encompasses both the heritage of Scotland and the quintessential American dream through carving his own path in Hollywood,” said Connor Gilbert, vice president of McTavish Spirits. “The Warchief is a premium, complex and nuanced bourbon that will appease both the casual and seasoned whiskey drinker alike.”
The bottled-in-bond whiskey, unique for a celebrity brand, has a bourbon mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley.
The Warchief will be exclusively sold on the McTavish Spirits website, www.mctavishspirits.com, for a retail price of $75. It will be available for delivery in every state except OK, MI, UT, MA, SD, AK & HI.
